The adidas Spezial range explores the history of adidas trainers by exploring retro and historic silhouettes from the brand’s back catalogue. In 2013, Gary Aspden displayed a collection of classic adidas releases in an exhibition which received widespread acclaim by fans of the brand. This led to a sharp increase in the retro silhouettes and eventually led to the launch of the adidas Spezial range alongside a second exhibition in 2014.

Since then there has been a stream of releases within the Spezial collection. Some of the most popular of these releases include the Handburg, the Blackburn, and the Lowertree, all of which have become fan-favourites amongst adidas collectors.
